🌟 Review Summary

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition was one of our first games from Larian Studios—and it set the bar high. Divinity: Original Sin 2 was one of the first games we played that offered such a deep level of choice, and we instantly fell in love.

The story was rich and layered, and the characters were incredibly well-written. The voice acting added so much to the immersion—every single line of dialogue was voiced. Compared to other RPGs where you have to read mountains of text, this was a major win.

🧩 Gameplay & Difficulty – 5/5

Playing this on the couch using gamepads was such a treat. The dynamic split-screen was brilliant—when we were close together, the screen merged seamlessly into a full view, and when we drifted apart, it split intelligently. It made exploring feel natural, and we never felt restricted.

We could each do our own thing, solve quests independently, or just goof off and save-scum our way into mayhem. One of our favourite antics was saving, then wiping out a town just to see what would happen. Somehow, the game still worked. That level of freedom was something we’d never experienced before in a non-Larian game.

👫 Co-op Experience – 5/5

Playing in split-screen co-op was a dream. We could each go off in different directions, interact with different characters, and take on quests independently—without ever being forced to share a screen or wait for the other person. It felt like we were playing two stories that constantly wove together.

Whether we were role-playing completely different moral alignments or collaborating to solve a puzzle, the experience was seamless and unforgettable.

We couldn’t stop talking about it and told all our friends to get it too.

🧠 Story, Dialogue & Decision Making– 5/5

The story was immersive, and the dialogue options kept us engaged the entire time. We constantly found ourselves laughing or surprised at what was being said. The journal system helped keep us on track when things got overwhelming—which happened often because there was so much we wanted to do.

Quests could be tackled in different ways and in any order. There wasn’t just one solution, and that made the game feel personal. It rewarded creativity in a way most RPGs don’t.

🎨 Visuals & Audio – 4/5

The visuals were great—beautiful environments, detailed characters, and magical effects that made combat pop. And again, we can’t overstate how much full voice acting elevated the entire experience.

🕹️ Replayability – 3/5

There’s certainly room for replayability if you want to try different builds, dialogue choices, or companions. But honestly, the first playthrough was so dense and fulfilling that we felt one run was enough. It’s the kind of game that leaves you satisfied after a single, epic journey.

✅ Pros

  • Deep, choice-driven story with full voice acting
  • Excellent turn-based tactical combat
  • Unparalleled environmental interactions
  • Dynamic split-screen co-op
  • High character customization and build flexibility

❌ Cons

  • Turn-based combat may not appeal to everyone
  • Can feel overwhelming with all available quests
  • Some environmental effects/statuses are unclear at first

🧾 Final Verdict – 5/5

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition blew us away. From the tactical battles to the unforgettable characters, this is the RPG that made us fans of Larian Studios for life.
