🌟 Review Summary
My wife and I didn’t expect Baldur’s Gate 3 to change how we saw gaming forever, but it absolutely did. It was her early introduction to RPG video games, and she instantly fell in love. She thought all games would be this rich and layered—safe to say, we had to break it to her that nothing else compares.
It became our favourite game of all time.
So much so that once we finished, we immediately picked up Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 by the same developers. (Check back soon for full reviews on those!)
🧩 Gameplay & Difficulty – 3.5/5
Baldur’s Gate 3 offers complex, turn-based tactical combat that lets you plan, strategize, and experiment. While some may see turn-based systems as a con, it was a huge plus for us—especially my wife. She didn’t grow up playing video games, so she loved being able to pause and think through her moves without feeling pressured. It made the game welcoming, even for someone newer to gaming.
Every fight felt different, and even outside of combat, there were countless ways to interact with the world. We never felt like we were being pushed down a linear path—if anything, we were constantly surprised at how much freedom we had.
👫 Co-op Experience – 5/5
Playing in split-screen co-op was a dream. We could each go off in different directions, interact with different characters, and take on quests independently—without ever being forced to share a screen or wait for the other person. It felt like we were playing two stories that constantly wove together.
Whether we were role-playing completely different moral alignments or collaborating to solve a puzzle, the experience was seamless and unforgettable.
We couldn’t stop talking about it and told all our friends to get it too.
🧠 Story & Character Progression – 5/5
The storytelling is next level. We felt fully absorbed into the world and the weight of our decisions stuck with us. It genuinely felt like our choices had consequences that rippled through the entire experience. We’d sit on the couch discussing decisions as if they were real-life dilemmas.
The characters are brilliantly written and incredibly diverse. Customizing your character, engaging in deep conversations, and forming relationships felt natural and deeply satisfying.
We were so invested that we played through the game multiple times—and every playthrough revealed something new.
🎨 Visuals & Audio – 5/5
The game looks incredible. From spell effects to character animations to the sweeping fantasy landscapes, we were constantly in awe.
And the music? Even as someone who usually doesn’t notice game soundtracks, I have to say—this one was unforgettable. The score elevated every emotional moment and battle.

🕹️ Replayability – 5/5
We’ve played it several times and always found new dialogue options, hidden quests, and alternate paths. The replay value is phenomenal, especially with the freedom to build different characters and make radically different decisions.

🧾 Final Verdict – 5/5
Baldur’s Gate 3 is more than a game—it’s one of our most treasured memories together. We’d plan our days around it, look forward to getting home and picking up where we left off, and we still talk about it to this day.
We could write for hours about how amazing it is—but honestly, it’s best experienced firsthand.
If you haven’t played Baldur’s Gate 3, do yourself a favour and start now. It’s a journey you won’t forget.
