The remake finally gives each player control over one brother, which felt incredibly natural. We loved how intuitive the controls were, but the real challenge came from coordinating our actions in timing-based puzzles. It wasn’t frustrating—it was just the right balance of effort and reward. And the short length made sure it never overstayed its welcome.

Sharing this story together made all the difference. We had to rely on each other constantly, just like the brothers do in the game. That sense of trust and cooperation really pulled us in. There were several moments when we didn’t even need to speak—just a nod or a glance, and we knew what to do. It’s rare to find a game that creates that kind of silent understanding. One of the drawbacks we found was that because it wasn’t originally created as a co-op experience, it felt slightly lacking relative to other co-op games. For example, we each had a gamepad to control our characters but we each only used one side of our respective gamepads.

The updated visuals are beautiful. Environments feel alive and the animation captures emotion better than many fully voiced games. The music quietly weaves through the story, amplifying every moment without needing to say a word. We were especially impressed by how expressive everything felt despite the lack of dialogue. There were times that we had to step away from the game because we felt a sense of motion sickness from the visuals.
