🌟 Review Summary
We went into Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake expecting a short, emotional story, but it hit us harder than we thought. From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t just about puzzles or platforming—it was about the bond between two brothers and how that bond mirrored our own as players sharing the experience.

🧩 Gameplay & Difficulty – 3.5/5
The remake finally gives each player control over one brother, which felt incredibly natural. We loved how intuitive the controls were, but the real challenge came from coordinating our actions in timing-based puzzles. It wasn’t frustrating—it was just the right balance of effort and reward. And the short length made sure it never overstayed its welcome.
👫 Co-op Experience – 3.5/5
Sharing this story together made all the difference. We had to rely on each other constantly, just like the brothers do in the game. That sense of trust and cooperation really pulled us in. There were several moments when we didn’t even need to speak—just a nod or a glance, and we knew what to do. It’s rare to find a game that creates that kind of silent understanding. One of the drawbacks we found was that because it wasn’t originally created as a co-op experience, it felt slightly lacking relative to other co-op games. For example, we each had a gamepad to control our characters but we each only used one side of our respective gamepads.
🧠 Story & Character Progression – 4/5
This is where the game truly shines. The story may be minimal in words, but it’s rich in emotion. From moments of lighthearted joy to devastating loss, every scene hit us in a different way. The ending especially left us sitting in silence. We genuinely recommend having tissues on hand—this one stays with you.
🎨 Visuals & Audio – 4/5
The updated visuals are beautiful. Environments feel alive and the animation captures emotion better than many fully voiced games. The music quietly weaves through the story, amplifying every moment without needing to say a word. We were especially impressed by how expressive everything felt despite the lack of dialogue. There were times that we had to step away from the game because we felt a sense of motion sickness from the visuals.

🕹️ Replayability – 1/5
The story is linear, so there’s not much reason to replay for different outcomes. That said, we could see ourselves revisiting it just to share the experience with someone else or to reflect on the journey again. It was short and meaningful.
✅ Pros
- Deep emotional storytelling
- Beautiful visuals and music
- Co-op implementation
- Short and impactful
❌ Cons
- Limited replay value
- Not for those seeking deep gameplay mechanics
🧾 Final Verdict – 3.5/5
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a short but unforgettable co-op story. It brought us closer as players, and maybe even a little closer emotionally too. It reminded us that video games can tell powerful stories—ones that leave a lasting impact even after the controllers are set down.
